Directions arriving from Florence airport to “Il Palazzotto”
Driving time is roughly 2 hours.

Turn right at the traffic light coming out from the airport. Passing an exit (Sosta Fiorentia) and service station.

Drive 4 km along this highway to an exit for Autostrada A1, following signs for Roma. When you arrive at the tollgates of the Autostrada, go to an unmarked gate, or a gate marked Biglietto (ticket).
Keep following signs to Roma and move to the 2 left-most lanes as you enter the A1, the right side lane exits soon. (When you return to the airport, take the Firenze Nord exit and follow signs to the airport.)

Drive 13 km along the Autostrada to exit: Firenze Certosa, just after the 2nd tunnel. Slow do, at the curve and drive to the unmarked tollgates on the left.

After to ll gates turn right, follow signs to Siena. Drive south on the Firenze-Siena highway about 64 km the exit: Siena Sud (South), there is also a sign for SS2 - Via Cassia-Buonconvento. Get off he highway slowly; the exit ramp has a tight curve. Follow signs to SS2- Via Cassia and Buonconvento; first turn left, then sharp right, then drive about 1 km to a traffic light and turn right. Continue driving south along the Via Cassia in the Arbia valley towards Buonconvento, distance about 20 km. (Part of the way is a newly built 4 lane highway.)

Driving time is roughly 3.5 hours.

From the airport drive towards Roma, about 10 km. Exit onto the Grande Raccondo Anulare (GRA), the ring road around Rome and follow signs for Firenze, Autostrada del Sole (Al).

Drive about 25 km to exit number 10 (the exits 8,9 and 10 are grouped together). Exit 10 takes you to the E35, connecting to Al north in the direction of Firenze. Drive along E35 for 20 km to the Autostrada A1, which is a toll road with frequent service stations, restaurants and coffee shops with clean restrooms. When you arrive at the tollgates of the Autostrada, go to an unmarked gate, or a gate marked Biglietto = ticket.
Drive along the Autostrada A1 for about 125 km to the exit of Chiusi - Chianciano Tenme. Drive to the tollgate on the right to pay with cash, or pay with a credit card where you see the signs. After the toll gates you come to a stop, turn right and you immediately come to an intersection, turn left towards Chianciano Terme.

Drive along 6 km towards Chianciano Terne and you come to a T-section., turn left and immediately turn right following signs towards Monte Amiata, Via Cassia S82, Montalcino.

After 2 km you make 2 turns to the left, again following signs for Monte Amiata, Via Cassia SS2
Montalcino. Drive all the way to Via Cassia, about 14 km away. In about 4 km you pass La Foce driving down this beautiful road into the Val d'Orcia. Stay on this road another 10 km across the valley until the road ends at Via Cassia. Turn right and follow signs for Siena. Drive north along Via Cassia for about 30 km to Buonconvento.
